Laser: why it takes a course and how often to come
Laser hair removal isn’t about the number of sessions, it’s about the result.
- The laser works only on hair in the active growth phase (anagen). Every hair goes through three phases — anagen, catagen and telogen — and not all hairs are in the active phase at the same time, which is why you need several sessions with intervals between them.
- A course is 10 to 12 sessions. Over the course, 60 to 90% of the hair disappears.
- At the start there are 4–5 weeks between sessions; later the intervals get longer. We don’t ask you to come back “just in a month”: we watch how your hair grows and adjust the intervals between sessions so they really work.
- The laser doesn’t remove hair instantly: it looks as if it keeps growing, but these are hairs that have already been treated. Within 7 to 14 days your body pushes them to the surface and they fall out.
- With every session the hair gets finer, weaker and sparser, and grows more slowly.
- After the course you move on to maintenance sessions, every 2–5 months.
